Basic Information
I was born in Joroinen, Eastern Finland, in 1983. I moved to Espoo in 2002 and have also lived short periods in Switzerland, Britain, and Norway between 2010 and 2012.
Studies
I did the Master’s degree in electrical engineering in Helsinki University of Technology between 2002 and 2005. My major subject was power systems and high voltage engineering and minor subject energy economics and markets. I did my post graduate studies in electrical engineering between 2007 and 2011 in Aalto University (Helsinki University of Technology until 2010). My doctoral dissertation was in the field of power transmission systems.
Main Work Experience
In 2005 I did my Master’s thesis at Fingrid (Finnish power transmission system operator and owner) of the topic “Monitoring of Power Oscillations in Power System.” Between 2007 and 2011 I worked as a post graduate researcher in Helsinki University of Technology and its successor Aalto University focusing on the research on electromechanical oscillations and their damping estimation. In autumn 2010, spring 2011, and autumn 2011 I worked as a visiting researcher at ABB Corporate Research in Switzerland, National Grid in England, and Statnett in Norway, respectively. Between 2011 and 2012 I also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Aalto University. At the moment (autumn 2012) I work at Statnett in Oslo in a common research project between Statnett, Fingrid, and Aalto University.
